El Dorado The Golden City Builder
I was lucky enough to get a copy of El Dorado: The Golden City Builder from the devs for free. I am not being paid for this review.
El Dorado: The Golden City Builder is a sandbox city building game. The controls and concept are very simple. Build your city to become an empire.
Honestly I couldn't tell you much about the story, In these types of games I personally forget about the story in favor of the creation of the city.
I didn't encounter any major bugs throughout. The biggest one I encountered was my "move building" button wasn't working. Then suddenly it was.
The most interesting feature in this game, the part of it that stands out from all other city builders. Is the Gods. Throughout your journey you must keep track of which god is in season. As the gods need to be worshipped properly and kept happy. Else the gods might get angry at you and attack.
Overall, I feel this game is fairly fun, as of writing this it still feels like there is a lot more that can be added to it, such as the ability to scroll under the trees, or see through them in some way for when building your roads. Idk maybe the devs never want us to see past the trees. What are they hiding?
I will say something else I personally wasn't fond of but it could be something others love is the resource nodes (Mining for stone, etc) being finite. I'm certain others love their pool of resources limiting their movements. But in games like this, I have a habit of just dragon hording my resources, when I suddenly can't do that it leaves a weird feeling for me. The positive side to this is of course you can move the mines when the nodes are depleted. when the game lets you that is.
